Family & Couples/Engagement
Clothing coordination is crucial. Choose clothing all in the same tonal range so no one member stands out in the picture because their clothing is lighter or brighter than everyone else. If you are all wearing high contrast clothing, like cream and black, have the child/children in the portrait offer a contrast with a black and cream print top so that the photo is not as severe. Solid coloured clothing is best. Avoid wild patterns, heavy stripes or slogan t-shirts that would distract from your photos. With adults, it's best to avoid bare arms as they call attention to themselves and away from your family's faces.
Maternity
Colors - solid colors: white, black, brown, gray
Fabrics - look for thin clingy fabrics with a little stretch
Pants - regular jeans or maternity jeans (any color), black pants (yoga pants work well)
Dresses - dresses that cling to your shape
Tops - white button-down men's shirt. Any shirt or cardigan that opens down the front works well. Long-sleeved shirts tend to be the most flattering, but sleeveless and spaghetti straps also work
Tanks or camisoles - anything clingy, fitted or stretchy in solid colors (white, black, red, blue...)
Special & unique - items like baby shoes or stuffed animals
